Introduction
I am a proud Stopfordian and have lived in Davenport & Cale Green ward for over 20 years. Before that I lived in the next-door ward of Edgeley & Cheadle Heath for 12 years, so I know the area, the issues, and the people very well.
I am a professional engineer with lots of experience of buildings, energy efficiency and renewable energy and I also work with vulnerable children and a local charity that helps people in crisis and marginalised communities.
I love going swimming, especially with grandchildren, but I am very worried about policies that allow men into women's spaces, like the women-only sessions at the pool and women's changing rooms. Women and girls deserve and need these single-sex spaces for their safety, privacy, and dignity.
As a school governor for a local school, I am really worried about the effects on children of telling them that they might have been born in the wrong body and that they can change sex. This causes some children to take experimental drugs and have healthy parts of their bodies cut off. Unhappy children need compassion and understanding, and protection from these harmful lies. No-one was born in the wrong body, and no-one has ever changed sex.
